The careful, respectful restoration of our beloved 1903 Carnegie building, preserving its historic architecture, character, and the Open to All inscription that has defined us for more than a century.
The Rao Family Education Center
A bold new 8,000 square foot, three-story addition connected to the Carnegie building, designed to grow as our community grows.
The Path To $7 Million
Realizing The Vision
The total cost of Phase I and Phase II combined is $15 million. Through extraordinary generosity from state and federal partners, and a landmark lead gift, we have already secured $8 million.
“The Amsterdam Free Library has stood as a sentinel and stalwart friend for over 120 years, never wavering, never closing its doors. With your support, our next chapter will be our greatest yet.”
